Seeing past what someone appears to be and discovering what they are capable of defines why I love helping people become successful. My work as a coach offers a transformational approach for my clients to achieve their “next level” of performance, and together we build the bridge from now to next.
My 30 year career as a talent agent was built on establishing a person’s value. This is a rare skill. It involves identifying potential, defining the unique qualities they will contribute and knowing what benefit those attributes bring. Successfully representing exceptional and sought after people also comes with the innate capacity to coach- to close the gap between what is and what is possible.
An unrivaled reputation is not sustainable without insight, direction and strategy. As an executive, I have had the opportunity to work with my colleagues for two decades in establishing the foundation of what good coaches know, great teams outperform individuals. Within small businesses, large corporations, and independent endeavors, strong teams have greater impact on outcomes.
When my son was born, he was identified as neurologically “atypical.” There were clinical definitions and many reasons why life would be challenging for him. Hearing that he’d have “great difficulty learning” was just one opinion of many about how his future would unfold. I looked past the “no’s” for the “how’s.” Asking my son to define himself not by his circumstances but by his potential enabled him to see he could chart a course and stick to it. Strong parenting would support him, but great coaching would launch him. He’s now living independently in Cambridge, Massachusetts, working on his Associates degree and a future of teaching high school history.
After my son left home I wondered who am I becoming? I had dedicated my available resources, emotional capacity and finances to my son’s success. He had done better than “meet expectations.” What was my personal “next”? The answers were there, but I needed to access them.
I discovered the study of energy leadership and how our energy impacts everything we do. Immediately, I saw the connection between how I had distinguished myself within my profession and the material I was learning.
The coursework brought another dimension to what I knew about personal and professional performance. As my perspective and energy shifted, I saw the powerful and positive impact it had on all aspects of my own life. I had a structure for sharing what I had instinctively practiced and this led to my certification in Energy Leadership TM Coaching.
Coaching is a professional relationship that engages a client and a coach to produce extraordinary results in life, career and business. Founded on agreements, the coach and client navigate from where the client is “now” and where they want to be “next”. Coaches help the client discover and identify goals and work through resistance and blocks to establish a progressive course.
